Our Impact
Access changes everything. Through adaptive equipment and individualized support, we ensure every child at Circle of Friends is seen, supported, and able to thrive.
18 PIECES OF ADAPTIVE & MEDICAL EQUIPMENT IN DAILY USE
Students rely on a wide range of adaptive and medical equipment to safely participate in learning, movement, and daily routines. This includes 2 standers, 3 walkers, 3 adaptive trikes, 3 Rifton activity chairs, 6 wheelchairs, and 1 adaptive toileting chair, all of which are actively used each day to support positioning, independence, and dignity.
The estimated replacement value of this equipment exceeds $120,000, reflecting both the specialized nature of the devices and the level of individualized support required.
Adaptive equipment is not supplemental to Circle of Friends — it is foundational. Each device represents access, safety, and opportunity for a student who would otherwise be excluded from meaningful participation. Maintaining, using, and integrating this equipment into daily instruction requires a highly skilled, staff-intensive model, but it ensures that every student can learn, move, and engage in a way that honors their abilities and needs.
98 DAILY MOBILITY TRANSFERS & POSITIONING SUPPORTS
To ensure student safety, comfort, and access to learning, our staff provides a minimum of 98 mobility transfers or positioning supports each day, including lifts, transfers, and adaptive seating adjustments.
These essential supports require specialized training, teamwork, and continuous attention, underscoring the intensive level of care our students need and deserve beyond what traditional schools are equipped to offer.
2408 TOTAL MEAL SESSIONS SUPPORTED ANNUALLY
Each year, our staff support 2,408 specialized feeding and oral motor sessions, carefully tailored to students with complex medical and swallowing needs.
These moments are not simply meals — they are therapeutic, instructional, and deeply relational, requiring skilled staff who ensure nutrition, safety, and a positive learning environment.
